The 2017 Subaru WRX STI is fast and fun sports sedan that delivers an extraordinary bang for the back, concludes AutoGuide in a new review. The level of driving engagement is simply unmatched at this price point (which falls in the mid-$30,000 neighborhood). Click "play" in the video clip below to watch the full report.

As AutoGuide points out, this car has a flair for the dramatic. Even its appearance - with a huge hood scoop, gigantic wing sitting on the trunk, and full-throated exhaust - practically begs for a speed check from local law enforcement. The STI is powered a 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer four-cylinder and it features permanent, full-time all-wheel drive - standard. The engine cranks out 305 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission that features short, precise throws.

In terms of handling, brakes are sharp, the clutch is well-weighted and intuitive and the steering is heavy, dial-in and responsive. The suspension is very stiff and keeps the car amazingly flat in corners while the all-wheel drive provides incredible grip out of corners. The STI has a rear torque bias - 41 percent to the front and 59 percent to the rear but you can adjust the split to your liking via a toggle switch.
